  1. Hi Cassandra,

It's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team. I'm so glad that you're willing to think about learning to weave one day. That's great!

Do you think that weaving with a plant would be easier or harder than weaving with wool yarn, or string or some other thread? I admire the people who weave with flax because it takes a bit of work to find it growing somewhere, pick it, and then prepare it for weaving by cutting the fronds into strips. The talent it takes to come up with patterns for rugs, baskets etc. is impressive!! I hope this kind of talent will continue to be shared so that we don't lose the hand skills that our ancestors were so good at!!

I love to knit and cross stitch, and I enjoy sewing colourful pillows and blankets. Do you like to do any craft or art activities?

I hope you're getting lots of opportunity to do all of your favourite things this summer holiday. And I hope you'll keep up your good work on the Summer Learning Journey program!!

    Cheers,

    Leslie
