Cassandra's summer learning journey: Week 2, day 1, activity 3 - 2019

  1. Hi Cassandra,

It's Leslie here, reading your blog from snowy Canada as a member of the Summer Learning Journey team.

Good for you - you've clearly read the website about fish. Isn't it funny that starfish have 'fish' in their name when they're not? And wouldn't it be neat if we could hear fish making sounds, when we're swimming in lakes and oceans?

My husband and I have a campsite on the side of a lake near our home and we spend a lot of time in and on the water, but I've never heard a fish make a noise. I guess our hearing just isn't good enough for that. It makes sense, though, that fish and other water creatures would have some way of alerting each other to danger or calling to their young.

I had no idea, before I read about it, that fish could live as long, or longer, than humans. Amazing!! I knew that tortoises are long-lived, but I didn't realize that fish were also long-lived.

I hope you're some interesting things through this SLJ program and I hope you're enjoying the activities. I'm enjoying reading your blog.

    Cheers,

    Leslie
