  2. Hi Cassandra,

I'm Leslie and I'm a member of the Summer Learning Journey team, reading your blog from my home in Canada. It's wonderful that you've chosen to be a part of this program this year - good for you!

I like your questions for Dame Moncrieff. It's always interesting to learn about how and why someone makes the career choice that they do, isn't it? Do you have any interest in being an artist when you're older? Perhaps you're an artist now.

I wonder how Dame Moncrieff came up with the idea that she could take items made of plastic or paper and re-use them by making clothing out of them. I wonder, too, how the models who have worn her creations feel about them. Are they comfortable or stiff and scratchy? I wonder....

I can understand that you 'believe' in Taniwha even though you can't know whether or not they're 'real'. It seems that there have been those that have seen evidence of something big living in the deep water, but not seen an animal themselves. So, we don't seem to have what is called 'hard evidence'.

Nonetheless, the stories of Taniwha are so old and so numerous that it seems quite fair
to say that they may well exist. Ah, the mysteries of life. Are there stories of other creatures that seem to be myths rather than 'true' that you know of?

Certainly the air pollution in Beijing is very real. Your free verse poem paints a clear picture of the difficulty that air pollution poses. Well done.

You're working very steadily at all of these activities - good for you! I hope you're enjoying them! And I hope you're having lots of fun in the sun over hour summer holidays too!

I'll continue to enjoy reading your blog.

    Cheers,

    Leslie
